GINLEE‘s newest collection is explored through a more local lens. It lends inspiration from batik motifs and patterns, diving deep into its storied history and cultural significance.
As a homegrown brand, GINLEE is on a constant pursuit to discover local gems that make up the heartbeat of the nation. The team came across Jenal Jetty, Singapore's last fishing village. With restricted public access, the jetty (or kelong) typically only sees its regular fishermen come for their daily catch.
The Deanna top and Ellie draws elements from demure embroidery anglaise, a popular technique found on Kebaya Belanda (Dutch Kebaya). The Isabel dress is inspired by the classic batik parang pattern, one of the oldest Indonesian batik motifs. The repeated 'S' shapes also brings one's mind to ocean waves, a core source of inspiration for the design team here at GINLEE.
